it’s been going around the cloth-diaper-making community, etsy and many other craft blogs and forums: Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new law designed to ensure the safety of children’s products. Basically, it’s lead testing for all products intended for children 12 years and younger. It will effect thousands of small businesses because the testing costs are crazy expensive. i have a had my very first diaper order generated from auntyemdiapers.com! it has been very exciting. so exciting in fact, that i went to denver to meet the women who was buying them (and we had cloth diapering 101). i loved every minute of it.
the website has been seeing some traffic, but i haven’t been getting many emails with requests or questions. I’m sure people are looking for a way to order them. That is in the works and i have some creative ideas for doing it.

this is a very good question and if you are new to cloth diapers or cloth diapering it is certainly one you will need to answer. the best way to figure out how many diapers you need to to ask yourself, “How often do I want to do diaper laundry?” If you don’t mind doing it every other day, you will fewer diapers. If you want to do it every three days, you will need a larger stash. It is generally recommended that you have about 12 diapers per day. So if you are going to do laundry every other day, you’ll want around 24 diapers. Remember, you’ll need to have a few diapers on hand for your baby while you do the laundry.
Another factor to consider while determining what size stash you need is the age of your child, and now often they need to be changed. Younger infants often need changed more frequently than older babies & toddlers. Some babies are heavier wetters than others. And some babies are simply more sensitive to wetness than others and require more frequent changes.
So what is the optimimal number? We suggest you start with 1 or 2 dozen. While 3-4 dozen is certainly plently.
