got lead in your pants?

If you have seen the Save Handmade button in the side bar, or watched the news video clip on this site, you have heard about CPSIA and the affects it will take on handmade, small business, and the world of children’s products. Needless to say, this has been a concern of mine. after asking around (and not hearing back from as many people as i would have liked) and following a whole lot of Tweets, i had a solution literally find me. You know the saying, ‘it just fell in my lap’? For me it was, ‘the solution just fell ‘in’ my lap-top.” I was invited to be part of a group of small businesses getting XFR testing (with GCC’s good until August 2009) all on the same day. The Event (and it was an Event) was hosted by the wonderful women of  Congrats From Colorado.

I got all the components of a cloth diaper and a wool diaper cover tested and surprise, surprise there is NO LEAD found in these cloth diapers! General Conformity Certificates are coming soon!

The CSPIA Law has the attention of my local news station KUSA/9news. As part of the continuing report i was interviewed about the effect of the new law and small business. This was a great opportunity not only for the CPSIA awareness, but also about my business. Yep, I really do make those diapers. And I really do make them in my house. It’s just me and the sewing machines. And the snap press. We wouldn’t want to forget about Mr. Snap Press. So with out further ado, here is the news story:

thanks for watching and i look forward to hearing from you! leave a comment.
